Real-Time Font Usage Manager Tracks Font Distribution and Usage FontAgent Pro Server 4 now includes the industry's first real-time font-usage manager. These fonts include Apple Chancery, Arial, Baskerville, Brush Script, Futura, Georgia, Gill Sans, Impact, Papyrus, Times New Roman, Trebuchet, Verdana, Webdings, Wingdings (1, 2 and 3) and Zapfino. Press release Insider Software announced the immediate availability of FontAgent Pro Server 4, which adds font-usage tracking, live backup, automatic failover server access, Kerberos single-sign-on support and directory-services enhancements. In Catalina, all the fonts not required by the system-but that Apple wants to make always available to apps-are placed into a Supplemental folder, located in System/Library/Fonts. To add to the fun, FontExplorer showed the former locations of those font files-where the font files lived before Catalina moved them. And now, the Sync version of FontAgent enables you to share fonts with other FontAgent users. The Mac and Windows versions of FontAgent are available in server-connected and standalone versions. I noticed that hundreds of fonts in FontExplorer were marked as Conflicts, colored red in its list of fonts. Welcome to the FontAgent family of products, which are built atop the planet’s most robust font viewing, searching, activation and metadata engines. I don’t expect the Catalina font chaos to return, since FontExplorer won’t try to activate any font already activated by the System. What about the now-inactive fonts I need for my projects? No problem: with FontExplorer’s auto-activation feature enabled, any new fonts needed when I open documents or apps are automatically activated. You can still repair, optimize and organize your fonts, then build font libraries and cascading sets that you can activate, manage, secure' and is an app in the os & utilities category. and the creative world will never be the same. Apparently, there is a conflict between some of the Mac’s core fonts and some fonts that I long ago had activated in FontExplorer. FontAgent Pro is described as 'delivers a deluge of font management features to the Pc and Macintosh. After confirming that I had cleared the font caches and checked permissions on Fonts folders, I disabled all the fonts in my font manager, which, in my case, is, FontExplorer X Pro. Granted you can work around Font Agents limitations here, but I don't like workarounds. Finally, I contacted the font experts at Monotype. This is something, that as printers we can't do because we have so many clients with different versions of fonts. If they are copied to my computer, they get deleted without my knowledge.įont Agent Pro I feel is great for designers because it keeps all of the fonts organized and all in one place. (Mac OS 9 and Windows versions are also available.) < fontagent. A free 30-day trial version is available as a 2.8 MB download. It requires Mac OS X 10.2.8, or 10.3.2 or later. What I mean by this is, I can load fonts from a Mounted Server into Suitcase and the fonts stay on the Server but not copied to my computer. FontAgent Pro 2.1.1 costs 90, or 140 for the Workgroup Edition. That being said I like Font Agent Pro for organizing and fixing font problems, but then I load the fonts into Suitcase. I find that Suitcase works better for printers and Font Agent Pro works better for designers. Suitcase allows you to load fonts from any where and will not copy the fonts to your local hard drive. Font Agent Pro and Suitcase Fusion operate in completely different ways and for different users. Suitcase X1 also allows me to manage fonts for Classic which none of the other font management softwares allow that. I am also using Suitcase X1 not Suitcase Fusion. In terms of performance, FontAgent does not seem to suffer any slow down even if you have a large library of more than a 1,000 fonts. Fonts are well categorized and easy to find via the main window and you can create smart sets for instant activation. Font Agent Pro and Suitcase Fusion operate in completely different ways and for different users. FontAgent Pro provides an easy way to manage and search for fonts on your system.
